Handcuffing Course

This course is designed on the basis that dependent upon your role that the use of mechanical restraining mechanisms such as handcuffs may have to be deployed.

Hartmann Training Ltd is pleased to offer a one-day handcuffing course. The techniques taught through this module based training are fully in accordance with current Police guidelines and have been Home Office approved.

These techniques meet guidelines in various areas of the Security Industry and have been medically risk assessed to the standard of the Institute of Conflict Management. They are currently being taught to the Police, H.M. Court Services, Enforcement Officers, Mental Health Institutes, Door Supervisors and other organisations.

The package Hartmann Training is delivering is the only package that has been assessed by ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) and ICM (Institute of Conflict Management). This package is endorsed by NOCN Awarding Body.

Please note that if you desire to take this course, you will first need to have completed the Advanced Physical Intervention course as you will need a good knowledge of the techniques that will be taught on this course.

  • The requirement to use non-physical skills as far as possible.
  • The law in relation to using reasonable force and self-defence.
  • The value of assessing a situation before intervening.
  • Using physical intervention as a last resort.
  • Possible medical implications.
  • The potential legal implications of the techniques.
  • Disengagement techniques.
  • Escorting and guiding skills.
  • Holding and containment skills.
  • Carrying and holding the Handcuffs.
  • Utilisation of the Handcuffs.
  • Deployment of Handcuffs on compliant and non-compliant people.

FAQ’S:

Q: I am Already a Licence Door Supervision holder; do I need this course?

The answer is no you do not need it. As a SIA licenced Door Supervisor you will have completed the level 2 physical intervention. This course is designed to further your knowledge and gain confidence.

Q: Are there any requirement:

You will need to be physically fit to attend this course and you will be asked to sign a medical declaration form to state that you are fit enough to attend. You do not have to be at a ‘’professional standard’’ of fitness and this is only to declare any injuries which may stop you from attending the course. You are also required to have a basic level of English literacy, language and numeracy.

The Handcuffing course is £55. (This will include certification fees.)
